Yellowstone - Wyoming
Descriptive:
Covering over two million acres, Yellowstone contains the greatest concentration of geysers in the world. Fumaroles which sometimes emit a low growl, and bubbling mud pots and mud volcanoes dot the landscape, letting off clouds of steam year round. Stunning waterfalls are a beautiful sight in what is known as the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone: Upper Falls drops 109 feet, where, a little further downstream, Lower Falls plummets 308 feet, making it twice as high as Niagara Falls. Perhaps most notably, Yellowstone is the very first of the National Parks.

The American black bear resides in Yellowstone and can be seen throughout the Park. Its coat is often black, but can also be brown, red or even yellowish in color. Bison roam the Park and are often seen within the campground in early morning, and occasionally wander in herds across Grand Loop Road.

Deer are common and are seen often; much less so, however, are moose, elk and pronghorn antelope. Although seldom seen, coyote can sometimes be heard howling in the moonlight.

For the avid, and lucky, bird watcher this is also home to a species of bald eagle. Among other species are the osprey, a variety of ducks, pelicans, and the rare trumpeter swan.
